Are you fond of watching horror films? I don’t . I don’t like watching those much. I can watch horror films depending on their terrifying level…If its level is way too much such as gruesome zombies, bloody chopped off heads, sliced torsos…well, NO THANK YOU! Watch it yourself solo. We already encounter non-stop horror tales with real monsters in our lives.

So as not to make you feel that I’m being cynical, I’m gonna share with you some “Tips from the Horror Movie Characters’ Survival Guide” to equip you in your film viewing which I read from a book.

1. If you’re searching for something that caused a mysterious noise and found out that it’s just a cat, leave the room immediately if you value your life.

2. When you have the benefit of numbers, never pair off or go alone.

3. Do not search the basement, especially if the electrical power has just gone out.

4. As a general rule, don’t solve puzzles that open portals to hell.

5. Never stand in, on, above, below, beside, or anywhere near a grave, crypt, tomb, mausoleum, or any other house of the dead.

6. If appliances start operating by themselves, move out.

7. Stay away from certain geographical locations, some of which are listed here: Amityville, Elm Street, Transylvania, Nilbog, the Bermuda Triangle, or any small town in Maine.

8. Beware of strangers bearing tools such as chainsaws, staple guns, hedge trimmers, electric carving knives, combines, lawn mowers, butane torches, soldering irons, or band saws.

9. If your car runs out of gas at night, do not go to the nearby deserted looking house to phone for help.

10. When you have killed a monster, NEVER check to see if it’s really dead.

Hey, don’t pay good money to get yourself scared. The mind works like a computer hard disk: garbage in, garbage out. If you have kids and you fill their minds with scary stuffs, you’ll simply give them impractical reasons to be afraid. Be careful, the mind plays tricks.

Instead of horror movies, watch the inspirational ones. Watch films that express dignity and honor so that you may be inspired in life such as Patch Adams, Gandhi, Moby Dick, Finding Neverland, and Pursuit of Happyness. I watch these kinds of films whenever I have the time.

Every moment is an opportunity to learn a lesson or two. We don’t want to waste our moments on things that would never help us achieve higher goals in life right?

Proverbs 22:6 says, “Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not turn from it”. Be inspired! If you have kids, inspire them while they’re young so when they grow up, they will inspire others as well and you can too.
